RKL Education Foundation Scholarship

Scholarship Winners: 2021 | 2022 | 2023

The RKL Education Foundation, Inc. will be awarding scholarships ranging from $500 to $3,000 to outstanding minority college-bound high school seniors. The scholarships are awarded based on several factors such as academic achievement and performance in panel interviews. The scholarship award will be paid to the recipient upon proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university, for the 2024-2025 academic year. Complete this application to apply for any of the awards listed below. Only submit one application to be considered for the applicable awards.

The following will be awarded to top candidates based on overall merit plus HBCU and/or STEM criteria where applicable.

Brother Eddie Nesby Memorial Scholarship ($2000/male)

Gloria & Clarence Lockett HBCU/STEM Scholarship ($3000/co-ed)

Ruby & Essie Lee Memorial Scholarship ($2000/co-ed)

Brother Oliver Hunter HBCU Scholarship ($3000/male)

Brother Jeffrey Lamar Memorial Scholarship ($2000/male)

Pamela & Grace Sarjeant HBCU Scholarship ($2000/female)

(3) Future Men of Distinction Scholarships ($1500/$1000/$500/mentees)

Completed applications must be submitted by February 29th, 2024 to be eligible for consideration; this includes the application, essay, transcript(s), optional SAT or ACT results, photo of the applicant (headshot), and two letters of recommendation. Top finalists will be selected for interviews. The candidates will be informed by the RKLEF scholarship committee regarding the interview time and date. Once the interviews are complete, the scholarship recipients will be notified within ten days of the last scheduled interview.  Finalist interviews will be held before March 15th, 2024, and will last approximately 20 minutes.

To apply for the RKL Education Foundation Scholarships, make sure that the following items are included in your application packet:

Properly completed application

Current resume – Highlight work experience, leadership, community service, extracurricular activities, honors/awards

An official transcript

SAT or ACT scores (Optional).

Photograph of the applicant (headshots only please).

Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a current educator).

A 2-3 page, double-spaced essay based on the following topic: “What are the reasons for your interests? (Reflecting on your childhood, discuss how your interests were shaped by your upbringing.)”

Personal statement (Optional) – Any additional info you’d like to share with us? (100-word max)
